I am a recent graduate with an improbable degree in biology and German studies working in a German biology (mycology?) lab and trying to answer the age-old question of What Do I Want To Be When I Grow Up?…before it’s too late. In addition, I am uncomfortably enamored with cheese, beer and Bill Bryson.
Mari,
I have almost no familiarity with blogs, and have already lost a portion of this message in a draft form, I expect that this may become somewhat jumbled. I was not aware that you were back in Germany. Way to go! Like your Father I am excited that you are in the Palatine area from which our family came. Between sampling the wine and cheese (a noble goal) keep your eyes open for anything that would give a hint of a connection with our family.
I think I know about 3 German words. Pilz is one of those words, so I am particularly fond of your blog name.
What mycology lab are you working in? What are you doing? What organism are you using? [My masters research was a study of alcohol production of Saccharomyces carlsbergensis, a German fungus involved with the production of spirits.]
Have a great time and discover great wines.
Mike
